My take on this book:
The year is 1882, in the Wyoming Territory. After the death of her husband Josef, Celia Anderson is running a boarding house in the town of Easton to support her six month old Emma. Her friend Bertha keeps telling her it's time to find herself a new husband, but Celia has decided that she will only marry for love, and besides she stays very busy running her boarding house and babysitting young Aaron. Mark Williams has been looking for his father for two years,and his search has led him to Easton, to Celia's boarding house. As she gets to know Mark she sees the kind man that he is, but is he the right man for her, after all will he even stick around? While Mark feels drawn to Celia, will he stay in Easton?
A short novella that was such a satisfying, quick read. I loved the characters, as well as the small town feel of the story. Celia and Mark were such good lead characters. She was strong, after all she had lost her husband, was trying to raise a daughter and run a boarding house, but the author allowed us to see another side of Celia, one who wanted to be loved and cherished. Mark was such a wonderful man, one I would consider a true gentleman. While he was carrying a bit of hurt from his past it didn't make him bitter. Strong secondary characters rounded out the story quite well, and I would love to see a story develop around Jacob, Arron's father, who had intentions of sending away for a mail order bride. Overall, a short, sweet, historical fiction that warmed my heart.
