Jacob’s once normal life was shattered when a serial killer called The Butcher tortures his beloved girlfriend to death. He is torn between wanting justice for his girlfriend’s murder and moving on with his life when he moves to a new city and meets Megan. Just when Jacob thinks that he will be able to escape his past, The Butcher follows him and Jacob is the only one who can stop him from killing again.

My take on this book:
Jacob Alexander is a police detective in Philly whose life  is shattered when his girlfriend Rachel and their unborn child is tortured and murdered. Her murder was a hit carried out by a killer named The Fist, but the killing was ordered done by a man named The Butcher, who is incarcerated, but has the power to get whatever job he wants done. Jacob decides the only way to get on with is life is to move away, but what happens when the killer follows him? Will Jacob be able to stop him before it's to late?

I found myself drawn to this story, the plot is easy to follow, and moves along at a pretty good pace. The character of Jacob was easy to understand, while he moved on with his life he never forgot about Rachel's killer and wanted justice. Overall, an interesting story where I was interested in the characters and wanted to know how things would work out in the end. If your a fan of police procedurals where the details aren't gory then you just might enjoy this one as well.

About the author:

From an early age, Kerry Fowers was an avid reader. Now with decades of devouring books this love affair with the written word has inspired Kerry to write his first novel. The unique character personalities are fashioned from the many years of working as a Night Watchman at a boarding school for troubled teens. Kerry was determined to create stories of his own that would captivate and entertain. Divine Help is his first book with more adventures in the works. Kerry is married to his sweetheart, Liz, and enjoys spending any free time with family and friends.

  1. Oh dang, I missed the freebie! --Tragic story but it's stories like those that can tug at the heart strings. Good to hear that it's not gory!
