Buddy Stories are loosely based on fact. Max was an Australian Shepherd that chased the cows and didn't like his name. Maybe Max wasn't supposed to be a cattle dog. Max must discover who he is and his name.

My take on this book:
Stuck In A Bucket by Debra Gaynor is a fun read that also shares the positive message that sometimes we might have to try more than one thing in order to figure out just what we are good at. Max lives on a cattle farm with his friend Buddy. Max hopes to become a cattle dog just like his friend Buddy but his exuberance for the job winds up getting him into trouble. Even though he might not be suited to be a cattle dog that doesn't stop Max from trying something else in the hopes of finding his place on the farm!

What a fantastic read. The illustrations are perfectly paired with the story to allow the reader to easily visualize what is taking place. The brightly colored illustrations will catch a youngsters eye but the story of Max will hold their attention because they will want to know whether Max ever finds his place on the farm.  There are more than a few laughs as Max's excitement seems to land him in trouble. A fun read that will hold a youngsters attention from beginning to end.

A complimentary copy of this book was provided for review.
