Julie and Brad Evans are house flippers. They buy low, clean out the old occupants junk, and try to make a profit. Enter Hemmings House on Bedlam Street in scenic Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. Too good a deal to pass up, but with an ominous secret. The old Victorian Mansion has dwellers that do not want to be dispossessed. As the house reveals it's past, will the couples marriage survive The Flip?

My take on this book:
Julie and Brad Evans buy old, rundown houses fix them up hoping to make enough money to eventually allow Julie to quit her job. Driving home after a successful sale, they see an old victorian house  with a for sale sign in the front yard. Getting the old house for a steal,Julie has hopes of perhaps keeping the house and turning it into a B&B. Turns out the house has ties that date back to the civil war and the underground railroad, and the thing is some of the residents from that time never left! From discovery of a secret room, the the strange occurrences going on in the home Brad knows something isn't right with the house, and just wants to get the work done and sell it.

Another hauntingly good story from Michael Phillip Cash! Strong characters and a fast moving plot makes for a page turning read that easily pulled me right into the story. Once I started reading the story I couldn't put it down! I liked that the characters of Brad and Julia are truly a typically married couple, they worry about money, and sometimes disagree. The situation that happens with Julia at work seemed very plausible. The historical elements of the story were very well done, the author effortlessly transitions between past and present weaving the stories of Tessa and Gerald, which went all the way back to the civil war, into the story of Brad and Julia. Tessa's infatuation with Brad was a bit creepy, and made for a few interesting scenes. It was nice to see some of the characters from Mr. Cash's previous books show up in this one. Anyone looking for a creepy good read should definitely check this one out.
