October 1, 2012 Deadly Reunions (Book 2)

Spunky and outgoing, nothing much bothers medical examiner Serena Hopkins--except for the thought of falling in love again. But when a serial killer is picking off her former classmates, Serena's life becomes intertwined with her old high school crush, FBI agent Dominic Allen. Is the secret she's keeping putting her next on the killer's hit list? Can she trust Dominic with the truth before it's too late?
Intense, emotional, and fast-paced, "When a Heart Stops" will have readers up late as they race to the finish to find out what happens.

My take on this book:
I have been reading Lynette Eason's work for a while and one thing I always want when I pick up one of her books is a suspense filled story and I am never disappointed, and with "When A Heart Stops" I was actually pulled in with the first sentence, which was "If she moved, would she die?" With an opening like that I knew I was in for an interesting read.

"When A Heart Stops" is the story of Serena Hopkins. She is a medical examiner so dead bodies don't normally bother her, but when the dead body turns out to be a former classmate well it creeps her out just a bit, and when the agent assigned to investigate is Dominic Allen her former high school crush well things get even more interesting. As the death toll rises could it be that there is a serial killer? Can Dominic and Serena figure it out before it's to late? One thing's for sure, there is enough twists and turns in this story to keep the reader guessing right up until the end!

"When A Heart Stops" is filled with suspenseful twists and turns along with easy to like characters to make it a real page turner. The thing that really stood out with these characters was that they often prayed about their problems. This is the second book in the Deadly Reunions series, and while it can be read as a stand alone work, for the first several chapters you will be trying to figure out who's who in the story. I actually read the first book and still had a bit of trouble figuring it out.Once the reader learns the characters though then the book zooms along to a cliff hanger ending that left this reader anxious for the next book in the series!
