For many people the idea that God likes us as individuals, just as we are, is often an unfamiliar concept, while rejection--by a partner, one's parents, an employer, or friends--is a fact of life. This book encourages readers to embrace the truth of a personal God with whom we do not need to struggle to gain recognition, a God who intervenes and acts on our behalf, a God who knows our names!
My take on this book:
"God Knows Your Name" is an uplifting reminder that even when were in our darkest hour, there is someone that is always with us, knows our thoughts, wants and needs and that someone is God.
The chapters of this book really hit the nail on the head. With titles like Nameless, Hopeless, Worthless,Helpless, Powerless, and Loveless, in today's society it is so easy to have those feelings. With each chapter the author shares Bible stories that are gentle reminders that we are loved by the most important one, and no matter what He always knows our name. While I was familiar with several of the stories, the author's insight had me thinking about them in a different light. Instead of reading this book from cover to cover I found myself bouncing around in the chapters especially the ones that struck a chord with me. Overall, a much needed book for anyone who needs encouragement or the equivalent of a gentle pat on the back. I actually think this book would be great for young people who are facing negativity in their lives. Overall it would make a wonderful gift for anyone whom you think needs a bit of a spiritual boost.
A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.
This does seem to be uplifting and we all need that.

ReplyDeleteThank you Brenda for reading my book 'God Knows Your Name' and for your positive review comments. I loved how you thought it would be great for young people and I must say I've had great comeback from those of the younger generation who have read it. Hopefully it's an easy and encouraging read for any age-group. Bless you, Catherine
