What A Difference A Dog Makes by Dana Jennings ~ Reviewed By Becky Hamilton, my favorite librarian~ with giveaway

What a Difference a Dog Makes: Big Lessons on Life, Love and Healing from a Small Pooch
Synopsis from Goodreads:

If you can't understand how a tail-wagging miniature poodle can inspire the afflicted, you probably don't know much about dogs. Little Bijou, the four-footed heroine of this book, possesses the beguiling attributes that canine-lovers can't resist, but somehow they seem particularly apt and meaningful when they are manifested in the vicinity of Dana Jennings and his son Owen. Both father and son are weighed down with major medical problems, but their spirits always seem to lift when their pint-sized Zen master pup pitter-patters into their presence. This pooch morale-boaster will be a surefire hit with those who love the companionship of pets.

Becky's Review:

First I feel I have to confess that I'm not a dog person! I know, I know hard to believe.

But I really enjoyed this. It was a quick read and so much more than a story about a dog. It was funny and touching. I found some great wisdom in it as well. One of my favorites: If you NEED to bark and howl, BARK AND HOWL. (Dogs don't keep their feelings buried inside. Thus, they rarely take Zoloft or Prozac.) I look forward to suggesting this book to my library patron's.

Thank you so much Becky for taking the time to share your review with my readers. I hope I can convince you to do another guest review soon!

  7. I love dog stories. Marley and Me and The Art of Racing in the Rain are a couple of my favorites. I also liked the cat books about Dewey and Oscar. You're right, they are so much more than just a story about a dog (or a cat!). I'm halfway through I Thought You Were Dead and love the way the dog and main character connect with each other. Thanks for the giveaways!

  8. Dogs are my loves. I have 3 right now...2 are rescues. One was given away because he was heart worm positive...$1000 later and he is fine...big Old English Sheepdog...the other rescue was on death row and now is a happy, healthy and very active Rat Terrier. I also have another Rattie that is more placid! They give unconditional love!
