Harper Harlow lives in a world of ghosts. She sees them. She talks to them. She investigates them. She sends them on their merry way. She’s not embarrassed by her abilities, and she’s not afraid to be who she is. She’s also not looking for a relationship. Enter Jared Monroe, a smooth-talking police detective who sees things in black and white and ignores any shades of gray. He doesn’t believe in ghosts, and while he’s intrigued by the feisty blonde ghost detective, he’s not interested in the paranormal. When twenty-one-year-old Annie Dresden’s body washes up on the beach of Whisper Cove, Harper and Jared collide. Sparks may be flying, but so is confusion and mistrust. Harper calls on her loyal band of ghost hunters to solve the crime, and Jared relies on his training to tackle the same problem. It doesn’t matter what approach they take because all paths are destined to intersect. Can Harper and Jared learn to work together? And, more importantly, can new ghosts let go of the past and give in to an obscure future? It’s anyone’s guess when big personalities go to war and find they might have more in common than they think.
My take on this book:
Harper Harlow started seeing ghosts at the age of eight years old when her grandfather came to visit her one night, thing is her grandfather had just died, and her mother came to tell her just as his ghost was starting to fade away. She uses her talents in her business Ghost Hunters Inc., which she runs with her best friend Zander. The tiny town of Whisper Cove has come to accept her abilities, so when she meets the wandering ghost of Annie Dresden she wants to help solve the mystery of what happened to her so that she can help her cross over, thing is the new police detective Jared Monroe doesn't believe in ghosts and can't help but be suspicious of her. As they both go about solving the mystery their paths cross and the current between them becomes electric. As they come closer to figuring out what happened to Annie, Harper becomes the killers next target!
Well I think I have found a new favorite author with Lily Harper Hart, because I loved Ghostly Interests! A plot that zips along with break neck speed with more than a few twists and a cast of laugh out loud zany characters made this a page turning read where actually it wasn't easy to figure out who committed the crime! I love the relationship between Zander and Harper, those two were so funny together! The relationship that developed between Jared and Harper was electric, and left me what might happen in the next installment of this series. My only complaint about this story is that I have to wait until January to read Ghostly Interests the next book in the series, but I think it will be well worth waiting for!
