My take on this book:
A Heart's Obsession is the second installment of The Journey of the Heart series and while a short read really packs plenty of story into a few pages. With this one Rand has headed out west and Sarah soon follows him, but when she arrives things aren't the same between her and Rand. With plenty of action and a non stop plot that really speeds by at a break neck pace this book is one that I just couldn't put down once I started reading it. Ms. Coble makes me feel as if I have stepped right into the lives of the characters, with descriptive writing the setting as well as the characters really come to life. If I had one complaint it's that when I reached the end I was left wanting more! Historical fiction fans especially fans of the time period right after the civil war when the west was becoming settled will find these books hard to put down. While the author provided enough background information with this one that one could probably read it as a stand alone I highly recommend reading the series in order to really get an in depth understanding of the relationships between the characters. Truly a book that leaves me anxiously anticipating the next installment in the series!
