Book Description

 April 27, 2014
Murder, mayhem, marriage, and a horse named Mutiny…
Minnie's impulsiveness has been getting her into trouble her whole life. She never expected it to land her on a suspect list for murder, though. With nothing left but a few trunks of possessions and her own defeat, Minnie leaves San Francisco behind and returns home. In an effort to protect her family and friends, she keeps them in the dark about the ongoing investigation and the possibility that danger may have followed her to Larkspur. When events force her to trust someone with her secrets, she turns to the sheriff and finds both a friend and an ally.
It may have been four years since he last saw Minnie, but how could he ever forget her? When Art finds her sneaking through a back alley in town, he knows something's wrong. The once vivacious Minnie is a mere shadow of her former self, all sparkle gone from her eyes. Art knows that time spent with her will be dangerous to his heart, but he can't turn Minnie away. Even if it means protecting her from her own impetuous decisions, he vows to keep her safe.
In her attempt to take responsibility for her own choices, Minnie shut out her friends, fami-ly, and God. An unsolved murder isn't all that's chasing Minnie, though. Will she find her way back to the heart of her faith before it's too late?

My take on this book:
WOW! Heather Gray certainly knows how to grab a readers attention from the beginning pages with Redemption book three in the Ladies of Larkspur series. Wilhelmina(Minnie) Drake seems to have a knack for finding trouble, and the latest mess she finds herself in includes the murder of her husband. Thing is she married a man she knew little about while away at college in San Francisco.  Luckily she is allowed to return to Larkspur and her family, under one condition and that's to check in with the local sheriff weekly. Turns out the sheriff happens to be childhood friend Art Paulson. Art realises that Minnie isn't the same girl he once knew, but that doesn't stop her from stealing his heart, and when trouble follows her to Larkspur he vows to keep her safe no matter what! Can they figure out who is after Minnie before it's to late?

Fans of historical fiction are  in for a real treat with Redemption by Heather Gray . Along with romance there is also a murder mystery, suspense, romance and enough humor to make for a page turning read. I found the characters to be very well developed. Minnie was easy to like and enjoy, a bad marriage, she took matters into her own hands by figuring out a way to survive in San Francisco, which I thought was very clever.Somehow she lost her faith in God along the way, but Art or Arty as she liked to call him kept reminding her that God was always with her. Speaking of Art he was a wonderful male lead, kind and gentle with a real sense of right and wrong. While the romance was slow building the plot never drags instead the author provides enough mystery and suspense with a few twists to keep the story moving. I found the humor of the green vest to be quite funny at times. While this story has an inspirational slant the author doesn't come off as preachy, instead she just blends faith together with everyday life. While I read the first book in the Ladies of Larkspur series I haven't read the second one but it didn't hinder me at all from diving right into this one, although I have enjoyed the series so much I plan on reading book two. Anyone who enjoys a good clean historical romance blended together with  suspense, mystery along with a dose of humor and a splash of inspiration will enjoy Redemption.
