The Cat in the Window edited by Callie Smith Grant

17384596People love their pets--cats more so than any other (or so the "cats" would like to think). And if there is anything cat-lovers enjoy almost as much as stroking their beloved feline friends, it's reading about cats. In the tradition and style of her previous smash hits, Callie Smith Grant brings readers a brand-new collection of uplifting stories about the amazing creatures that warm our hearts--and our laps! With stories from Melody Carlson, Jill Eileen Smith, Robert Benson, Kathi Lipp, and many others, "The Cat in the Window "offers the perfect excuse to curl up on the couch with a furry friend.

My take on this book:
I love short stories and when they revolve around cats that's even better. "The Cat in the Window" is a  compilation of  short stories as varied as the furry little kitties that each author writes about. Some stories are funny, some are uplifting and some are just downright touching. I found myself laughing out loud at the story of "Fat Jimmy" who sort of got bounced from family member to family member. The story of Percy the cat brought a tear to my eye, not really because it was sad, but instead because Percy got his happily ever after. The story of Smokey who was supposed to become a mouser and wound up becoming an inside pet and not liking to any red meat except for salmon. Instead of chasing mice he saves his entire family from fire. Along with the many stories there several cat pictures along with interesting facts, jokes and more packed inside this wonderful little book. Lovers of cats or anyone who enjoys an animal story will find this book a treasure. Each story is short enough that it can be read in just a couple of minutes, but once you start reading it's difficult to put this wonderful little book down.
