Three sisters, a charming inn, hints of mystery and romance, and a gorgeous seaside setting. Summer reading at its finest!
I loved the family feel of this novel. Each sister has their own unique personality giving this story a very realistic feel. Because the sisters are older I found myself easily relating to them. I could easily understand Gracie's reluctance at wanting to leave her home, but she also needed to reestablish a relationship with her sisters. In addition to the family drama going on they are renovating the inn and if that isn't enough there is an air of mystery about a former owner. "Seaside Harmony" is the first book in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series and is the perfect way to escape for a few hours. I have always been a fan of Guideposts series and this one promises not to disappoint With elements of faith interwoven with family drama, a hint of mystery along with a splash of romance, I really look forward to my next visit to the Misty Harbor Inn.
When Caroline Marris joins her sisters, Gracie Gold and Sam Carter for a Nantucket Island getaway, she has no idea how it will change her life. The sisters stumble upon Misty Harbor Inn, the place their late mother loved so much, and Caroline talks her sisters into buying the beautiful but dilapidated inn. But can free-spirited Caroline stay focused enough to make opening the inn a reality? Hand-drawn old postcards draw the sisters into the mystery of Hannah Montague, the young widow of the original owner. Can the sisters uncover the fate of this woman who disappeared in 1880? As Caroline and her sisters work together to make their mom's dream a reality, they bond in ways they never expected.
Readers will delight in the inviting setting and be enthralled by the adventures of these sisters who reunite to bring their mother's Misty Harbor dreams to life.
My take on this book:
Six months after the death of their mother Caroline Marris, along with her sisters Gracie Gold and Sam Carter plan a two week getaway to Nantucket a place their mother loved. While strolling on the beach they arrive at the Misty Harbor Inn, a place their mother dreamed of owning and are surprised at the condition of the old inn. The sisters decide to purchase the inn even though it will take a lot of work to get it ready to open. When they find some old postcards they are find themselves immersed in the mystery of Hannah Montague, the widow of the original owner. Can they figure out what happened to her? Will the sisters be able to get the inn open, and will this adventure draw them together or pull them apart?

Three sisters, a charming inn, hints of mystery and romance, and a gorgeous seaside setting. Summer reading at its finest!
The three sisters really make this a stand out series, it's so nice to see their relationships grow and change as the story progresses. I always enjoy whenever an animal is included in a story and we Max, Carolines cocker spaniel continues to make appearances in this story. I think the element of mystery that is woven into the story really adds to the storyline. I found the historical aspects of the mystery quite interesting. "Sunflower Summer" is the second book in the Postcards From Misty Harbor Inn series and I really think that to understand the story completely the books should be read in order. A wonderful setting, interesting characters along with elements of faith, and the mystery woven in really held my attention and has me anxious to read the next book in this series!
Misty Harbor Inn officially opens, and Gracie Gold, the middle Marris sister, wrestles with an overwhelming decision. As the sisters learn the day-to-day workings of running an inn, Gracie counsels its first guests, newlyweds whose honeymoon seems to be ending before it begins. Meanwhile, Sam's discovery of a clue in a secret room sheds unflattering light on Hannah Montague, who vanished from the house more than one hundred years ago. And as Gracie and Caroline welcome guests to the inn, they are delighted to see how God uses it -- and them -- to deepen relationships and transform lives.
Readers will delight in the inviting setting and be enthralled by the adventures of these sisters who reunite to bring their mother's dream to reality.
My take on this book:
It's spring in Nantucket and the girls have been working all year to get the Inn in tip top shape to open and what better time to have the grand opening than while the town is celebrating with the Daffodil festival. We get to meet the guests , but more than that the mystery of the previous owner continues to unfold.
