Safe In His Arms by Colleen Coble ~ Litfuse Blog tour with review

Safe in His ArmsSometimes it takes a stranger to see you as you really are.
Under Texas Stars, Book 2
Born and raised on sprawling Texas land, Margaret O’Brien prides herself on her competence as a rancher. But her father believes she’s made for more than just dawn-to-dusk work. He wants her to have the love of a good man, to raise children, to build a life. But Margaret gave up such dreams years ago. She’s convinced no man would have her, that the ranch is her life now.
So when Margaret’s father hires Daniel Cutler as a new foreman, she’s frustrated and suspicious. Then an overheard conversation links him with a gang of bank robbers, and she’s downright worried. Daniel swears he’s not involved, but Margaret’s not convinced. She knows the man still has secrets. But would a criminal be so kind and talk so convincingly of his faith? As a series of tragic “accidents” threatens all she holds dear, Margaret must decide what to trust: her own ears, her best judgment . . . or what her heart keeps telling her.

My take on this book:
After reading the first book in this series I was hooked and couldn't wait to get my hands on this one, and honestly I think this one was better than the first!
Margaret O'Brien would rather be helping out with the daily operations of her fathers ranch than stuck inside cooking and cleaning. She really doesn't have any plans to marry, instead she believes that she will inherit the ranch, because her brother was killed in the war. Her father has other ideas though, he wants her to marry and have a family of her own, even going so far to tell her that he has decided to leave the ranch to someone else. What will Margaret do? Will her father change his mind, or will someone come along to change her mind about marriage?
Margaret was a wonderful, believable character, that doesn't mind getting her hands dirty. She really doesn't see  herself as others see her. When she meets Daniel, she isn't sure of him, and while the reader knows that they will eventually find their way together, oh what a wonderful journey the author takes us on to get us to that conclusion! Daniel makes it obvious that he is interested in Margaret, but she couldn't help but wonder just who he was and what he had been involved in! Overall, a nice romance with enough suspense and mystery to keep me turning the pages. I have really enjoyed both books in this series, but this book can be read as a stand alone book. Historical fiction with a western setting, romance, suspense and a splash of mystery, now who could ask for anything more! Highly recommended!
