Just as love appears, so does the darkness. With her heart reaching out for one man, Brenna finds herself the target of an unknown stalker. Who is he? What does he want? How far will he go for her? Death is an option. Brenna discovers more than she bargained for and learns that the stalker will kill for her. It all comes down to decisions, and no matter what she chooses it will demand sacrifice and someone's blood.

My take on this book:
Brenna has been living in the tiny town of Whitewater for a little over a year working as a schoolteacher. Even though she is normally sort of a loner, she finds herself becoming fast friends with Tahnee Lightfoot, and her family. She often spends time at their home and has become acquainted with her entire family, and even has mixed feelings for the oldest son Slaton, she is drawn to him, but is unsure how he feels. He feels the same way but isn't sure how serious the relationship is between Brenna and her boyfriend Eaton Somerfield. After spending an evening with the Lightfoot family Brenna goes home to find that someone has been in her apartment. She wants to believe that it might be a prank, but Slaton senses that something sinister is going on, and can even feel that something isn't right. Who is hiding in the shadows, and what does he want with Brenna? Will Eaton and Slaton be able to keep her safe?

This story grabbed me from the prologue. We find Brenna in a nightmarish  predicament, that could have ended badly and then the author skillfully jerks  us back in time letting us see how things unfold. This kept me sitting on the edge of my seat and working my brain overtime wondering just how she wound up where she did, and what the ending would ultimately be! I really enjoyed the characters in this story. I could easily understand Brenna, her parents had died when she was eighteen, and after that she was alone in the world. It made sense that she would gravitate to Tahnee and the Lightfoot family. While she is in a casual relationship with Eaton, the currents between her and Slaton are electric! I found myself intrigued with the ability that we glimpse between Tahnee and Slaton.
A stand out story for me because of Ms. Graf's ability to bring not only the story but the characters to life. She easily allowed me to feel the emotions that the characters felt, from the tension between Eaton and Slaton, to the jolt Brenna felt when Slaton touched her.  Because of the mystery and suspense the plot moved along at a brisk pace, and the ending has me anxious for the next book in the series! Ms. Graf weaves together, mystery, suspense, romance along with a paranormal twist which makes for a page turning read!
