Shift System by K.D. Vassell ~ review

                                                                                                       March 9, 2012
A funny story about a man and his dog:
Brutus has lived a comfortable life as Steven's companion for the past five years, but this happy reality is threatened when a woman named Minniekins invades their world, ousting Brutus from the bedroom.
Brutus now spends his nights on the rug outside Steven's door, dreaming of the cotton sheets on Steven's bed.
However Brutus soon realizes that all is not well with Steven and Minniekins, and when an opportunity for change presents itself Brutus seizes it. Will Brutus save both himself and Steven from Minniekins's clutches, on will Brutus have to spend the rest of his days sleeping on cheap synthetic fibers?

My take on this book:
Brutus is a Great Dane who has a pretty good life. One of his greatest joys in life is the comfort of sleeping on cotton sheets in his owner Steven's bed. When Steven brings home a new girlfriend named Minniekins things quickly change and she kicks him out of the bed. Well Brutus isn't going to take this treatment laying down and decides he must take matters into his own hands errrr paws if he is ever going to enjoy sleeping on cotton sheets ever again!

I am always a sucker for story where a dog is the main attraction and Brutus is fantastic! It was such a fun story and I loved seeing it unfold thru the eyes of Brutus.Often when I read a short story it feels like I am missing something but not so with this one. There is plenty of detail along with a very visual, fast moving plot and a satisfying ending to make it a tail wagging good read. I really enjoyed Brutus and his dilemma and how he ultimately solved the problem.

Note: this was a free story downloaded for my kindle
