Fall in love with this cozy story about two people from different worlds.

Franny Martin is an Oklahoma farm girl who's preparing to spend the holidays alone...again. Then Charlie Landau shows up one day, all wealth and polish, and offers to buy Franny's farm. Franny has no money to speak of, but she is clever and spirited, and she's more than happy to sell the farm and move to the city.

As Sinatra croons from the radio and Christmas descends upon her charming farm, Franny teaches Charlie the curious and sometimes comical ways of country life. In the process, they unearth some discoveries of the heart-that sometimes love comes when you're least ready for it. Will the holidays bring their most impossible dreams within reach?

My take on this book:
The year is 1961 and Franny Martin is listening to "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" as she slops her forty hogs.At the age of thirty-three she has been on her own since her parents passed away. After running the farm for a few years she decided that it really wasn't what she wanted to do with the rest of her life, instead her love of music makes her want to move to the city. So she decided to put the farm up for sale, but after years of no one showing up to buy it, she is totally surprised when Charlie Landau shows up out of the blue wanting to buy it. Turns out he is from a wealthy family and he wants to get away from that and prove that he can stand on his own. Because he knows next to nothing he works out a deal where Franny will stay on for three weeks and teach him the ropes. Once she leaves the farm things don't work out so well for either of them, Franny has trouble getting a job in the music industry, and Charlie is having trouble back on the farm.Thru mutual agreement Franny comes back to the farm to work and these two opposites are drawn together. How long will it take for the two to realize that they need each other? Will Charlie be able to break away from his domineering father, and will Frannie realize what she needs is right there on the farm?

What a wonderful little story set during the Christmas season. I was drawn into the story from the first pages, Franny was such a spunky, full of life person, and her first meeting with Charlie where she finds herself in the mud really had me laughing. I really enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between Franny and Charlie, I wanted them to have their happy ever after. The author provides a few twists to keep the story interesting. Anyone looking for a nice story to kick off their holiday reading season should really check out "A Merry Little Christmas."
