My take on this Bible:
I have been collecting Bibles for several years, so I was excited to review "The Open Bible" by Thomas Nelson. There are many features that were quite helpful in the pages of this Bible. The first and foremost thing I want to point out is the print is a nice size and easy to read. I found the hardback version easy to handle and so far very durable.
First and foremost it is written in the New King James Version text, filled with notes that serve to clarify the text. There are Read-Along References and Read-Along Text marked with an "R" which lists at the end of the verse passages that may have similar meaning or have further bearing on the scripture that has been read. Before each book of the Bible there is an introduction and outline of the book, which are extensive and scholarly and the outlines give a great overview of the book.There are also related charts that provide at a glance the summary of the books contents.There is also a Biblical Cyclopedic Index which is sort of like a concordance, reference system and index all rolled into one. In addition to these great features there are additional Bible study helps such a chart that will guide you in being able to read your Bible in a year, a section called "Teachings And illustrations Of Christ" which steers the reader to particular subjects that may interest them.I also like the fact that Two of my favorite features had to be the one which listed The Miracles Of Jesus Christ, and a section called "The Laws Of The Bible"
Overall there are numerous features in this Bible that will ensure success in learning more about God's word. This is a Bible that I have been using on a daily basis, and would easily recommend it to a new christian who is hungering to study and learn more of God's word, but it is also perfect for a more seasoned Christian as well. I wouldn't hesitate in giving this Bible as a gift. Recommended!
