This novelistic retelling of the Bible goes back to the roots of the biblical writings and texts, bringing fresh insights into the familiar stories. It considers the contexts in which both the Old and New Testaments were shaped and organizes their history, poetry, chronicles, and prose in an engaging manner. Brimming with verve, humor, and originality, the stories of the Bible are brought to life in a style that will appeal to readers of all ages.
My take on this book:
Anytime I can find a book that will bring the Bible to life in a different way I become excited. With "The Book Of Books" by Trevor Dennis is geared toward the younger set "teens" I found the stories to be entertaining, and written in such a way that makes the stories easy to understand. I would consider this book to be a retelling of some of the most popular stories in the Bible, told in down to earth language that is easy to follow along and understand. For me I really thought the table of contents made this a very easy to use and navigate book. Broken down into twelve chapters with several mini stories within each chapter, I randomly chose stories to read based on stories that I knew a bit about first, and after reading each story I was drawn to my Bible to read more about it!
I think this book is actually perfect for all ages, from teens to adults, anyone who is looking for a more simple way to understand God's word.
