About the book:
Amelia Gladstone's hopes are tied up in the Titanic--hopes for a reunion with her sister and an introduction to an admirer. But when she offers a spare ticket to a down-and-out young man, her fate is about to change.
Quentin Walpole is stunned when a sweet lady secures his passage to America--and even more surprised to find his wealthy father and older brother on board the ship. Suddenly Amelia finds herself caught between the attentions of two men, but who should she entrust her heart to? As the fateful night arrives, will Amelia lose everything to the icy waters?
My take on this book:
I really enjoy reading historical romance, and when the story takes place around an actual event that occurred in history well that makes the story even better. "By The Light Of The Silvery Moon " takes place during April 1912, the protagonist Amelia Gladstone and her aunt Neda are part of the maiden voyage of the Titanic. Amelia is full of hope because not only are they planning on reconnecting with her closest friend and cousin Elizabeth but Amelia also hopes that she might be sailing toward her future, you see she has been corresponding with Mr. Chapman, Elizabeth's neighbor in America and she hopes that they might have a future together. Once aboard ship, she helps out someone who was going to be tossed off the ship and soon becomes involved in his life. Will Amelia make it to America, and will she find the future she longs for or does God have something else in mind?
As this story unfolded it was easy to see that the author did her research, I could easily imagine being on the ship with the characters. While I knew what would happen on the voyage the story still held my attention, because of the many twists and turns the author wove into the story. I was anxious to see how the story would play out for Amelia. Overall I think anyone who enjoys great historical fiction, that weaves together romance, suspense, a bit of mystery along with tragedy will certainly want to read this one.
