Book Description from Amazon.com:

March 13, 2012 The Angelaeon Circle
Where angels walk the ground and the future is told in song, does a man of low rank have a chance at love with a princess?

In Camrithia, a land of shadows and mystical secrets, Trevin lives to serve King Laetham. But his heart belongs to the princess, Melaia. When the King sends Trevin on on a dangerous quest to find the missing comains—captains in the king’s army—he must leave Melaia to the advances of a swaggering Dregmoorian prince.

Challenged to prove his worth, Trevin throws himself into his quest. Striving to prove his love, Trevin undertakes a second mission—find the harps Melaia seeks in order to restore the stairway to heaven. Through fire caves, rogue winds, and murderous threats, Trevin remains steadfastly dedicated to his quest—even when he is falsely accused of a heinous crime. As Trevin’s time runs out, he realizes he must face the shame and horror of his own past and the nightmare that has come to life. Will he have the courage to finish what he has started?

My take on this book:
I often go thru phases of what genres I read and lately I have been reading mostly historical fiction, so while this book took me out of my comfort zone I found myself actually enjoying it. I have actually been studying the Nephilim in the Bible so this book was also a bit timely for me as well.
Trevin is a Nephili~ half angel/ half human who lives to serve the king of Camrithia. He is given a couple of missions, one  is to find and bring back the missing comains who are captians in the king's army. The other is to find two harps and bring them back to Princess Melaia so that she can rebuild the stairway to heaven. Thing is he is also in love with Melaia, but can he ever have a chance with her?

A story of good verses evil plays out in this book.  Trevin really cares for Melaia, but there is a dark prince who wishes to marry her so that he can unite their kingdoms together. While this book is the second book in the Angelaeon Circle series there was enough back story so that I didn't feel lost. Also there is a cast of characters list at the beginning of the book which helped me keep the characters straight.
While there were spiritual messages woven into the story they weren't overwhelming. A fast paced story that I really enjoyed reading.

A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
