About the book:
Lucy Marsh has lost everything but her determination to provide for her brother and sister. When she realizes her father's death was no accident, she decides to accept a proxy marriage in order to get her siblings out of harm's way. But trouble follows her to Wichita Falls, Texas, and nothing there is as she expected.

My take on this book:

Lucy Marsh finds herself in dire straits and has to accept an offer to marry a man she doesn't know just to take care of her brother and sister. Thing is her parents are dead, she is out of money with no job and not sure what to do when she gets an offer she can't refuse, it's the offer to marry a man sight unseen. Nate Stanton, runs a ranch and has always hoped for a wife but the responsibilities of the ranch has given him little time to find one, so when his father arranges the marriage between him and Lucy and they are married by proxy things on the ranch will certainly never be the same. She shows up with her siblings and Nate wonders how long she will last on the ranch. How will things work out between these two?

I really enjoyed the characters in this story. Lucy really had alot of responsibilities, but was really a very brave person. She married someone sight unseen to protect her brother and sister. While a marriage of convenience is a pretty common plot the thing that made this one different was that Nate didn't know that he was married until Lucy showed up on his doorstep. His first impressions seemed perfectly normal. I thought it was quite nice to see the relationship slowly bloom, and watch his opinion of Lucy change. I think anyone who enjoys historical fiction where there is a sweet romance, a nice inspirational message as well as a bit of mystery woven in will certainly enjoy this story.

A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

  1. I've never heard of live proxy marriage ..does that part have any truth in this historical fiction? Very interesting!
