Mornings With Jesus 366 Daily Devotions review with giveaway

Book Description:

“Be still and know that I am God.” is one of the most beautiful verses from the Bible, but it’s not easy to practice in this busy world. Mornings with Jesus will help you do just that—“be still” in Jesus’ beautiful and powerful presence. For those who are seeking a deeper experience in their relationship with Christ, Mornings with Jesus offers a fresh perspective of who Jesus is (the Healer, the Son of God, the Comforter, the Good Shepherd) and what that means for day-to-day life. With a warm and friendly voice, 365 short devotional writings on the character and teachings of Jesus encourage readers to greet each day by drawing near to Him and inviting His presence into their day. Spend time with Jesus at the beginning of each day and experience His nearness and peace in a new way throughout the year. Each day’s selection includes: • a Bible verse • an entry based on Jesus: His words, miracles, and parables; His wisdom, compassion, and comfort; His mystery, power, divinity, and humanity • a “faith step” that will inspire and challenge readers to apply the day’s message to their lives.

My take on this devotional:
I love devotionals. They are a wonderful way to start my day, and with this devotional "Mornings With Jesus" what makes it different for me is that it is written by seven different women, whose writings are very easy to connect to. Also  it is published by Guideposts a company that I turn to whenever I am looking for Christian literature.

This devotional is written in a very easy to use format, there is a one page reading for each day of the year. A Bible verse opens each day, and is followed by a devotional written by one of seven writers who connect the Scripture to a story in their life. A "faith step" ends each day's reading. The "faith step" is a wonderful way to apply what is read to your daily life, by challenging us to look at the scripture in a different way.

I have really enjoyed using this devotional. I actually use the devotional a bit differently. I read the devotional in the morning so that I can think about it during the day, and then reread it in the evening as a way to unwind right before bed, during the evening reading I also focus on how the devotional and scripture has affected my day.

I must admit I am always drawn to pretty things and the cover of this devotional pulled me right in, but it was the stories and insight that kept me going back daily. For me I have made this book a part of my daily Bible time and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a way to jump start their day or who wants to develop a closer walk with God.

  4. I have just received Tricia Goyer’s novel Along Wooded Paths. She is the only author I recognize. I would like to have this devotional to read during this leap year because it has 366 devotions and is for 2012.
I like devotions because they begin a central theme and you can continue your Bible study further on the Scriptures that pertain to the subject on that day for in-depth study. It is a nice jump-start place to begin.

  5. Hi Brenda. I'm new to you blog and you design is so pretty. I enjoyed your review of this devotional. I love them too but I've never thought about doing the same one in the morning and again at night. That's a great idea! By the time your re-read it you would have more insight on it and it would probably have greater meaning.

Thanks for hosting the giveaway. I would love to be the lucky winner. I'm your new follower too. I hope you'll stop by and visit. I have a giveaway going on now too.
