I am  reading an e-book titled "The Disturbing Effect of Moonlight," by Mia Zabriskie.
The Disturbing Effect of Moonlight

Synopsis of the book:

Natalie Ryder’s troubled past seems far away, but the emotional scars run deep. In 1994, her family disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving her orphaned. She ran away from an abusive foster home, only to wind up on the streets, where she was brutally raped.

Now divorced and living in Seattle, she has put the past behind her. As a respected scientist, she spends most of her time rock-climbing and peering into fault lines, studying the earth‘s turbulent history. Far removed from her own turbulent history.

Then comes the earth-shattering news - a hiker stumbled across her father’s remains. It turns out he was murdered and buried in a remote canyon almost two decades ago.

Her world is turned upside-down as she heads back to Los Angeles to confront the troubles she left behind - including an ex-husband who wants to rekindle their romance and a rebellious tween daughter.

The murder was violent and grisly, but the police want to bury this old ‘whodunit’ in Cold Case. Natalie goes ballistic and decides to investigate on her own with the help of a cynical detective who likes to bend the rules.

As she unravels the mystery, something much more horrific comes to light - an evil so malevolent it will change her life forever.

Now she must race against time to save the people she loves and uncover the city’s darkest secret - something so frightening, no one can help her. At least, no one human.

“The Disturbing Effect of Moonlight” is Mia Zabriskie’s second suspense thriller, full of rich characters and plot twists. For fans of Stephen King, Dean Koontz and Tess Gerritsen.

So what are you reading today?

  5. Melanie, Often I am surprised that books I really think I wouldn't like turn out to be my favorites. I am bad about judging a book by its cover, and think a lot of great books are passed over by me because the cover isn't eye appealing. Thank you so much for dropping by my blog its always nice to meet new people. I am off to check out your blog.
