The Ice Princess by Camilla Lackberg ~ Free Press Blog Tour

About the book from Goodreads:

The American debut of internationally bestselling Swedish writer Camilla Lackberg’s haunting first novel. Returning to her hometown of Fjallbacka after the funeral of her parents, writer Erica Falck finds a community on the brink of tragedy. The death of her childhood friend, Alex, is just the beginning. Her wrists slashed, her body frozen in an ice-cold bath, it seems that she has taken her own life.

Erica conceives a book about the beautiful but remote Alex, one that will answer questions about their own shared past. While her interest grows into an obsession, local detective Patrik Hedstrom is following his own suspicions about the case. But it is only when they start working together that the truth begins to emerge about a small town with a deeply disturbing past.

My take on this book:
The premise of this book starts off well enough. Erica Falk has just returned to her hometown and is taking a brisk walk when she hears Eilert Berg screaming. Turns out he is the caretaker of sorts for Alexandra Calgren's house and has found her dead in the bathtub. Erica is shocked at what she sees, Alex is sitting in a partially frozen bathtub with her wrists cut. What looks like a suicide, soon turns out to be something else entirely.
With that sort of synopsis how can you not expect a real who-dun-it of a story that will be fast paced and keep your attention. Well for some reason this book missed the mark for me. I think one of the most frustrating issues for me was the fact that when a clue was found, it wasn't revealed instead the reader would be left dangling for several pages, how can we figure it out if we aren't privvy to the clues?
Overall this book dragged to much for me and was hard to finish. While this book didn't click for me, I would still encourage readers to check it out and form their own opinion!

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
