My take on this book:
This book is the story of two Jane's who lived in different time periods, Jane Lindsey is the modern character, and Lady Jane Grey lived in the sixteenth century. We learn thru the tale of the two Jane's that they have much more in common than just their first name!
Jane Lindsay has  been married to her husband Brad for twenty-two years, and after he drops a bombshell over breakfast that he thinks they need to evaluate where their marriage is going and leaves. Jane is completely blindsided, heartbroken and confused. she thought their marriage was ok! When she finds an antique ring, inscribed with a Latin verse and the name Jane, she decides to investigate to find out more about who originally owned the ring, and as she learns the history of the ring, she also learns that she needs to take some control of her life and make some choices of her own. Will the choices she makes save her marriage?

We get the story of Lady Jane Grey thru her seamstress and friend, Lucy. It seems as if Lady Jane doesn't have any control over her life, with her future being planned by everyone around her, but in the end she chooses her own destiny.

I really enjoyed this story. The author weaves in quite a bit of history which I enjoyed. Even though the story is about two different people the writing is very easy to follow. I think my favorite character in the story was Lucy, she was an interesting, and important part of the book, she was a true friend to Lady Jane Grey. I also enjoyed reading how family members fit into the story and ultimately influenced the outcome. I would also say that while there is the mention of God and religion, it isn't overdone or preachy.Prior to reading this book I hadn't read anything by Susan Meissner, but now I will certainly be looking for more of her work!
