Tempted by Fate by Kate Perry ~ Blog Tour and giveaway

Tempted by Fate (The Guardians of Destiny)Product Description

Willow Tarata is a Guardian who trusts no one. She hunts those who prey on the vulnerable. And she's driven by a vengeful goal-find the man who murdered her mother. Yet suddenly Willow's quarry now has her on the run . . . straight into the sights of San Francisco's most dangerous detective.

Three bizarre murders have Inspector Rick Ramirez baffled-and determined to uncover the truth. But to catch the real killer, he needs the help of his prime suspect, Willow Tarata, even though this fierce and sexy blond is challenging his professional cool. And now, unless they believe in each other and trust their deepest instincts, a relentless evil will end both Willow's and Rick's life-and claim this Guardian's extraordinary powers forever.

My take on this book:

It was Willow Tarata's destiny to become a guardian of an Ancient Chinese Scroll, she had the mark, just like her mother before her. Her job is to guard the Book Of Wood, a job her mother was training her to do, before she was killed by The Bad Man, leaving Willow to continue developing her skills on her own. Vowing to find the person who killed her mother, she winds up in San Fransisco, where she is supposed to meet informants that may be able to lead her to The Bad Man, but what she finds is two dead bodies, and police inspector Rick Ramirez. Rick has been warned by his grandmother about a White Witch, but she also told him that the White Witch is good, so when he sees Willow he immediately thinks she must be the one his grandmother saw. He knows that she is somehow tied to the murders, but he is drawn to her in an unexplainable way, and  Willow knows that his kisses affect her like nothing else! When Rick sees Willow fight off an attacker, he is amazed to see a tree almost act as her backup, used to seeing things in black and white he isn't sure what to make of it, but he soon realizes that he will need to put his suspicions aside if their lives are to be saved, can they figure out who the Bad Man is and protect Willow's powers?

I love a good paranormal story and this one fits the bill, because the paranormal aspect was something other than vampires it was a new twist for me! While there is enough action to keep you turning the pages, the author throws in a bit of quirky humor that actually had me laughing, referring to tv cops such as Ponch, and Starsky and Hutch was to cute! The chemistry between Willow and Rick was totally charged with electricity, the couple seemed to contrast nicely, he being a straight laced, play by the rules cop, and she a kick butt gal with supernatural powers. I also loved how we got a sense of family in the story as well, Rick's grandmother was great, not to mention who Willow's father turned out to be!

Tempted By Fate is the third book in the Guardian of Destiny series, but can easily be read as a stand alone
novel, I haven't read the first two books in the series and had no problems becoming totally immersed in this story! I normally read vampires and werewolves when I read paranormal but I am so glad that I stepped outside that box to read "Tempted By Fate,"if your a fan of paranormal, with romance, humor, and page turning excitement thrown in then your going to be in for a real treat with "Tempted By Fate."

About the author:

As a little girl, Kate dreamt of many things. Like becoming a ninja. Dressing up in black and carrying a big sword? Seemed like a no brainer.
However, Fate had other plans for her, and she studied Kung Fu San Soo instead. A seventh degree black belt, Kate now has more weapons than she ever imagined--including several swords.
She lives in San Francisco. Voted by her friends as the woman they'd most want to stroll with down a dark alley, Kate is as likely to be spotted at the opera as she is doing tai chi in Golden Gate Park. Usually wearing black--in both cases.
