Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis Blog Tour and Giveaway

Simply Irresistible (A Lucky Harbor Novel)In one fell swoop, Maddie loses her boyfriend (her decision) and her job (so not her decision). But rather than drowning her sorrows in bags of potato chips, Maddie leaves L.A. to claim the inheritance left by her free-spirited mother-a ramshackle inn nestled in the little coastal town of Lucky Harbor, Washington.

Starting over won't be easy. Yet Maddie sees the potential for a new home and a new career-if only she can convince her two half-sisters to join her in the adventure. But convincing Tara and Chloe will be difficult because the inn needs a big makeover too.
The contractor Maddie hires is a tall, dark-haired hottie whose eyes-and mouth-are making it hard for her to remember that she's sworn off men. Even harder will be Maddie's struggles to overcome the past, though she's about to discover that there's no better place to call home than Lucky Harbor.

I also really enjoyed how before each chapter started we got a bit of witty advice from Phoebe, the girls mother, it gave a glimpse of the character she must have been, and how clever for her to leave those messages in a recipe box for her girls, some final parting advice so to speak on her outlook on life.

My take on this book:
Unfortunately for Maddie when she kicks her abusive boyfriend to the curb, by dumping hot coffee in his lap,  it didn't go over so well at work and she was fired, and wouldn't you know it her boss fires her right before she gets her Christmas bonus!

Maddie known as the mouse and her two half sisters Chloe, the wild-child, and Tara the Steel Magnolia, inherit the Lucky Harbor Inn from their free spirited mom, so they decide to meet up and figure out  what to do.  Maddie really wants to stay and give it a go.She has just come off of an abusive relationship and really feels adrift, really wantint  to find a place to belong, and  set down roots, but with her two sisters champing at the bit to get back to their lives can Maddie convince them to stick around, and give the inn a go, and also try connecting as sisters, because after all that's what their mother Phoebe hoped they would do.

This book started off with a bang, Maddie is such a spunky person, from how she handled  driving into town and almost running over Jax a gorgeous, hunky man, and him picking potato chip crumbs off of her, and then hours later tripping over his motorcycle outside a bar. So cute but also funny. That really sums up Maddie's character, she is easy to relate to because she seems so down to earth normal. She is spunky, cute and klutzy, and comes off very funny even when she isn't trying to.It takes her time to get over the last loser boyfriend, but it was great watching her trust blossom in Jax, and how she sometimes even seemed surprised at her own strength and feelings.Truthfully there is no way that she could resist Jax, he was compassionate and caring and very understanding about her issues, and boy was he sexy! The chemistry between them was hotter than a five alarm fire!

Even though Jax had a few secrets, and some issues in his past that he had to deal with, he was an all around good guy, he even loved dogs! I am a sucker for a dog in any story and I really enjoyed the bit of Izzy that we got, and the dog farting, well who of us can't relate to that one!

Hands down I would say this is one of the best books I have read all year. If you like reading contemporary fiction, filled with humor, a glimpse at small town life, town gossips and nosey neighbors, along with a family of three sisters that are about as dysfunctional as they come, then pick up this book! Caution once you start reading it you wont be able to put it down.I also gotta say from the time I started reading this book I so couldn't get the 80's Robert Palmer song Simply Irresistible out of my head, how funny is that !
This book is the first in a three part series  the next bookTHE SWEETEST THING  is due out April 2011, and I for one can't wait to read it!
On a scale of one to five I would give this book a six its just that good!
