The Lord's Prayer Insight and Inspiration to Draw You Closer to Him By R.T Kendall

Lord's Prayer, The: Insight and Inspiration to Draw You Closer to HimProduct Description

No prayer is better known--or more misunderstood--than the prayer Jesus provided in his Sermon on the Mount. Turning a keen eye to this much-loved topic, Dr. R. T. Kendall unlocks the transforming truths of what we now call the Lord's Prayer. With wisdom and depth, he offers thoughtful exposition on the life-changing revelations contained in each line of this amazing prayer, including: * interpreting and praying in the will of God * the purpose of the Lord's Prayer * when to pray the Lord's Prayer * how unanswered prayer can be a sign of God's favor * misusing the Lord's Prayer * why pray at all? * and more Readers will come away not only with a model for prayer, but with a revolutionary way to pray effectively while drawing closer to the Father.
I think we all know the Lord's prayer, I remember as a child being taught the prayer in Sunday School, but until I read this book I didn't fully understand the meaning of this prayer.
The author does an amazing job of exposing what his ideas of the Lord's Prayer are. He gives us insite as to how God intends us to pray  and how our prayers will ultimatly bring us closer to him.
This book is broken down into 5 parts:
1. Focusing on God
2.God's Prayer List
3.God's Prayer List for Us
4. A Chosen Benediction
5. A Further Reason for the Lord's Prayer
In breaking down the Lord's Prayer step by step Mr. Kendall brings to life the meaning of this prayer. He lets us know that our most normal tendency when we pray is to ask for our wants and wishes, that when we ask Him to do this or that we are overlooking the fact that He has his own agenda. He has already decided what we need and sometimes it isn't always what we ask for.
This book is a must have for anyone wanting to learn the true meaning of The Lord's Prayer and how to become closer to God thru prayer.
Even though I was provided a copy of this book from Chosen Books, a division of Baker Publishing it in no way alters my opinion of this book.
