An eight-year journey through the occult and into freedom
Though Kristine McGuire was raised in a Christian home, at an early age she became fascinated by the occult. At sleepovers she and her friends told fortunes and held séances. As a teenager she was convicted and put all games of mysticism aside. She went to a Christian college and married a Christian man. But despite her decision to follow God, a longing for the occult persisted, leading her to leave her church and husband and to fully embrace witchcraft.
My take on this book:
Kristine McGuire shares how she slowly went from someone struggling to be the perfect Christian, to a practicing witch, ghost hunter and medium, and how she finally came to realize that God wasn't in these things.
In today's society it seems to be the norm to seek out spiritual guidance, but the only true spiritual guidance we need to seek is God. I have always been fascinated with ghost hunting, mediums etc so I found this book a compelling read. One of the chapters that really stood out for me was titled dangerous games, which shows how things such as ouijua boards, magic eight balls etc sold as children's games, but in reality they are occult games, that we should steer our children away from.
Each chapter is short and easy to read, the author shares her story and what she has learned in a down to earth easy to understand manner.At the end of each chapter she has a segment called digging deeper which provides a scripture verse and asks a few questions about how the reader feels about what they have just read in the chapter.I found the scripture verses peppered through out each chapter to be very informative. Overall this book is a very timely read, because today's culture seems to be fascinated with the spirit world. For me this is a subject that I intend to learn more about. Thank you Ms. McGuire for sharing your story, it certainly has given me something to think about.
