Synopsis:

One young woman. Two very different roads. The choice will change everything.
Even as a pregnant, unwed teen in 1974, Sandy Lincoln wanted to do the right thing. But when an ageless woman approached her in a convenience store with a mysterious prophecy and a warning, doing the right thing became even more unclear. She made the best choice she could . . . and has lived with the consequences.
More than thirty years later, a pregnant teen has come into her life, and Sandy’s long-ago decision has come back to haunt her. The stakes rise quickly, leaving Sandy with split seconds to choose once more. But will her choice decision bring life . . . or death?
My take on this book:
"The Choice" is a story that tackles some tough weighty issues such as teen pregnancy, abortion, and rape. With these kinds of topics one might think the book would be a difficult read. Instead it is a story that is hard to put down. It pulled me into the seventies, which really was a different time, allowing the reader to see how life's most difficult choices can haunt you for the rest of your life.
In 1974 Sandy Lincoln seems to have it all. She is a popular teen in school, a cheerleader and has a promising future. When she finds herself pregnant  and unwed she has to make a choice about what to do with the baby.
Fast forward over thirty years later. As a schoolteacher Sandy finds herself taken into confidence by a teen student who is pregnant. As she helps the girl Sandy can't help but think about her own past and the choices she made as a teen.  What sort of advice and guidance will she impart all these years later, and how will helping a pregnant teen impact her life and job?
Strong believable characters really made this book stand out. I found it very easy to understand the choices that Sandy Lincoln made. The author created characters with emotion that literally poured of the pages. It was easy to see that Sandy's choices shaped the person she became. While Sandy's mothers reaction to the pregnancy was awful, sadly it is often very realistic. Overall, an interesting story that would be perfect for group reads.
